Vedanta Tailoring Training Centre at Tanigehalli Set to Usher in Skill-based Progress
Chitradurga, Karnataka: Vedanta Sesa Goa – Iron Ore Karnataka (IOK), one of the largest iron ore mining companies in Karnataka, under the aegis of Vedanta Foundation, established the Vedanta Tailoring Training Centre (VTTC) at Tanigehalli,
Chitradurga. The VTTC, fourth of its kind in Chitradurga District, was inaugurated by Mr Govind Naik, Panchayat Member, Tanigehalli, and Vedanta executives in the presence of community members.
The VTTC would provide skilling training as part of a three-month National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) accredited course to women from Tanigehalli and surrounding villages, thus contributing to holistic women empowerment & creating pathways for augmenting household income.

This initiative would greatly contribute to the skilling needs & financial empowerment of women in Tanigehalli and surrounding villages. Sangeetha H, Resident of Tanigehalli & Beneficiary of the Vedanta Tailoring Training Centre (VTTC) expressed her thoughts on the initiative, “Vedanta IOK’s VTTC has created a new path of confidence and self-reliance for women like me. Through this initiative, we are gaining valuable skills that are helping us build a steady source of income and a brighter future for our families.”
Mr Govind Naik, Panchayat Member, Tanigehalli, expressed his thoughts on the initiative, “Vedanta IOK has conducted the Tailoring training programme in our village which has greatly benefitted the women of our village. Through collective learning, the training has helped foster opportunities & enthusiasm among the participants.”
The VTTC offers a comprehensive, NSDC-certified three-month curriculum in tailoring and apparel-making, designed to teach women industry-relevant skills that open doors to entrepreneurship and income-generation opportunities. Graduates receive an NSDC certification, a powerful credential supporting their pursuit of financial stability and growth.
Vedanta Sesa Goa, under Project ‘Jeevika’, runs several initiatives across four states & helps create a transformational impact by skilling women in streams that enable them to set up micro-enterprises. The previous programs on ‘Jute-bag’ making, and ‘Saree Tassels Training’ have been well received by the participants and the community.
