Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha Promotes Sustainability through the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Initiative

As part of the ‘Ek ped maa ke naam’ initiative Vedanta Sesa Goa’s Iron Ore Orissa (IOO) further its commitment towards promoting environmental sustainability with a comprehensive plantation drive within the premises of its BICO and Feegrade mines, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mining and environmental stewardship.
As part of the initiative and in-line with the occasion, IOO planted over 1500 trees as part of its effort to foster sustainable environmental practices. The event also included an awareness session for the employees , workmen and business partner and provided vital guidance on the need for successfully managing large plantations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Biswanath Sahoo, Chief Operating Officer – Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha, said: “At Vedanta, we believe that responsible growth must go hand in hand with care for the environment. This plantation drive about nurturing life, protecting our ecosystems, and giving back to the communities and landscapes that sustain us. Our efforts under #TransformingPlanet reflect our long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.”
Previously too Vedanta IOO has carried out similar plantation drives on the occasion OF World Earth Day and World Environment Day , with Padma Shri Daitari Naik also having joined the Company in April 2024. The drive is aligned with Vedanta’s larger ESG vision of creating a greener tomorrow through initiatives that integrate people, planet, and prosperity. By planting native species that thrive in the local environment, Vedanta aims to ensure that the green cover created is resilient and beneficial to both wildlife and surrounding communities.
