Vedanta IOO Celebrates Rajo Parba Across Villages in Barbil

Reaffirms Commitment to Odisha’s Cultural Heritage and Community Development

Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha (IOO), under the aegis of its Sesa Employee Volunteering Activity (SEVA), celebrated the culturally significant ‘Rajo Parba’ with community members across Nadidihi, Kendudihi, and Rengalbeda villages. The event brought together residents for a day of joy, tradition, and connection — further strengthening Vedanta’s role as a community-first organisation deeply rooted in the ethos of Odisha.

The celebration featured a range of engaging activities including folk dance performances, local games, singing sessions, rangoli competitions, and the iconic Rajo swings, which brought special joy to young girls — a symbolic tradition of the festival.

IOO employees also actively participated in the celebrations, volunteering their time and effort in planning and executing the celebrations. Their presence alongside senior leadership reflected Vedanta’s inclusive culture and commitment to community partnership at every level.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ajit Patra, CEO – Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha, said: “Rajo Parba is a powerful reminder of the deep cultural roots that bind our communities together. At Vedanta IOO, we believe that true progress goes beyond infrastructure and operations — it lies in the ability to connect with people, celebrate their heritage, and support their aspirations. Our involvement in such community celebrations is not symbolic; it reflects our core belief that sustainable development must honour both tradition and transformation. We remain committed to ‘giving back’ to society and walking this path alongside the people of Odisha — as partners, as enablers, and as fellow citizens of a shared future.”

The initiative was also lauded by Smt. Rani Lohar, Sarpanch – Nadidihi, who shared: “Vedanta IOO’s support in celebrating Rajo Parba reflects a genuine commitment to preserving Odisha’s rich cultural heritage. Engaging local residents through traditional games and festivities brought immense positivity to the community. Beyond festivals, Vedanta’s ongoing efforts in education, healthcare, skilling, and livelihood are making a real difference in the overall development of our villages.”

Rajo Parba celebrations are part of Vedanta’s broader approach to community development through cultural integration and grassroots engagement. Through initiatives such as Project Jeevika, Project Vriddhi, and SEVA, Vedanta IOO continues to create impact across Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts, driving forward its vision of #TransformingCommunities.

As Odisha celebrates its identity through festivals like Rajo, Vedanta IOO stands committed to strengthening communities, preserving tradition, and building a prosperous, inclusive future together.
