Badminton Fever Set to Grip Goa with the Upcoming Launch of the Vedanta Ultimate Badminton League

In a major fillip to the game of badminton in Goa, the young and aspiring players are set to get an apt platform to showcase their talent & to test their skills against the best. Six teams, comprising ~200 players, will be vying for honours at the ‘Vedanta Ultimate Badminton League’. The 2-day mega event will be organised by Goa Sports Club, with Vedanta Sesa Goa as title sponsors, and in association with Goa Badminton Association between 25-26 January, 2025, at the Indoor Badminton Stadium Tennis Stadium, Mapusa and is expected to witness keen and exciting competition.
This is the fifth year of the League and its previous iterations were titled the Vasco Premier League & the Goa Badminton League. Vedanta Sesa Goa is partnering the GSC for the first time. In the previous four editions, the player participation has gradually increased from 90 to almost 200. Over time the League has become one of the most prestigious and anticipated events for badminton enthusiasts & budding players.
Speaking on the development of Vedanta Sesa Goa supporting the Ultimate Badminton League, Mr Navin Jaju, CEO, Sesa Goa, said “We, at Vedanta Sesa Goa, are proud to be supporting the Ultimate Badminton League. Mr. Praveen Shenoy, President, Goa Sports Club & Secretary, Goa Badminton Association, said “I am thankful to Vedanta Sesa Goa for the support extended and am looking forward to the launch of the fifth edition of the League. It is our endeavour to provide the young talent in Goa the platform they deserve to help bring up the standards of the sport. More so, with the six teams evenly matched, the level of competition is expected to be extremely high, which augurs well for badminton in Goa. The participation in the League has been increasing every year, which is an extremely positive sign, and we are confident of holding yet another successful edition this year.”
The six participating teams in this year’s edition are Sparkling Stars, Ace Raqueteers, Ashers’s Smashers, Flying Gravity, Priority Titans, and Badminators. Teams will be competing in the Men’s & Women’s Category ‘A’ & ‘B’ and Veterans 40+ & 50+ Categories ‘A’ & ‘B’ respectively. All participating players will receive a medal each and the winners will be receiving special trophies as well.
The Company has been regularly supporting the youth by partnering the Goa Football Association and supporting the Vedanta Women’s League, the Vedanta Youth Cup and local youth clubs in helping them conduct events such as the ‘Republic Run’, Navelim Cricket League, the Corporate Cricket League and the Amrawati Football League.
