Infrastructure Support by Vedanta Set to Benefit 150+ Students
Chitradurga, Karnataka: Upgrading educational infrastructure in Chitradurga, and enhancing health and well-being for school students, Vedanta Sesa Goa-Iron Ore Karnataka (IOK) as a part of Project ‘Vriddhi’, constructed a sanitation block each at the Government Higher Primary School (GHPS), Hirekandwadi and at Sri. Koteborappa Boramma High School (SKBHS), Dodalgatta. The sanitation block will benefit over 150 students & help foster an improved sense of hygiene amongst the students.
Smt. Geetha, President, Hirekandwadi Gram Panchayat (GP), along with Mr Devaraj MC, Vice President, Hirekandwadi GP & Mr Siddesh M., School Development & Management Committee (SDMC) President, joined the faculty & students for the inauguration of the newly constructed block at GHPS Hirekandwadi. Mr Nagarajappa, President, Alaghatta GP President, along with Lokesh, School Principal graced the inauguration ceremony at SKBHS, Dodalgatta.
Marking the occasion, Shrishaila Gouda, CEO, Vedanta – Iron Ore Karnataka said, “The construction and provision of clean sanitation facilities in Hirekandwadi and Dodalghatta demonstrate our commitment to community welfare, through provision of essential health and hygiene facilities for school students.Our educational initiatives, as part of Project ‘Vriddhi’ have positively impacted over 7000 students annually. We are happy to play the role of catalyst in the quest for holistic societal progress.”
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Geetha, President, Hirekandwadi Gram Panchayat (GP), said, “Vedanta Sesa Goa-IOK has constructed and handed over the sanitation block at GHPS, Hirekandwadi. The initiative by Vedanta IOK would significantly enhance the hygiene of the school premises and would also provide a conducive learning environment for the school students. I commend Vedanta IOK for their initiatives in the field of education, their commitment to community well-being is much appreciated.”
Lokesh, School Principal, SKBHS, Dodalgatta also expressed his gratitude to Vedanta IOK for the construction of the sanitation block within the school premises. “The construction of the sanitation block at the school premises would significantly benefit the school . This initiative not only prevents the transmission of communicable diseases, but it would also contribute to increasing the attendance of school student.”
Aligned with the UN SDG 3 – ‘Good Health & Well-being’ & SDG 6 – ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’, the sanitation blocks constitute a significant upgrade in the educational infrastructure & will help foster conducive conditions for continued education of the students.
