Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha Deepens Community Connect
Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha (IOO) organised the latest edition of the ‘Employee Volunteer Week’ (EVW). The initiative helped connect with community members in Nadidhi, Rengalbeda, Koida, Guali & Joda in Sundergarh & Kendujhar districts in Odisha. Promoting activities focused upon youth empowerment, wellness, and environmental awareness, Vedanta IOO regularly organises the EVW.
Reflecting on the initiative, Mr. Biswanath Sahoo, Chief Operating Officer Vedanta IOO, shared: “At Vedanta, we believe that true progress is measured not just in economic terms, but in the strength of our relationships with the communities we serve. The Employee Volunteering initiative is an expression of our values — especially care — and I am proud of our team’s dedication to making a real difference.”
Vedanta IOO employees spent meaningful time with the residents of old age home & also contributed financially to enhance the facility’s infrastructure.A health camp was also organized with the help of Vedanta IOO’s Mobile Health Unit and Occupational Health Centre teams, offering medical consultations and check-ups. Employees also conducted training sessions to help residents to confidently use the donated gadgets, fostering independence and ease in daily life.
Mr. Deviprasad, Coordinator of the Old Age Home – Joda, expressed his appreciation: “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for Vedanta’s thoughtful support to our old age home. The gesture of providing foot massagers, water dispensers, fruits, snacks, and electric water bags brought immense joy to our residents. The time and effort made by Vedanta employees was heartwarming and meant a lot to everyone here.”
Vedanta IOO employees also conducted career guidance sessions, self-defence workshops for girls, and International Yoga Day celebrations. The formation of ecoclubs helped instill environmental consciousness among students.
