Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha Marks International Literacy Day at ITI Koida


Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha (IOO) marked the International Literacy Day 2025 by engaging with the students of ITI , Koida, through an awareness session on the Importance of Digital Literacy in Education.The theme of this year’s Literacy Day, “Promoting Literacy in a Digital Era”, was spotlighted through the awareness session.

The event was organised as part of the employee volunteerism initiative -SEVA.Mr. Sambit Nayak, Head CSR – Vedanta IOO and Mr. Leo Godwin from the HR team interacted with students on practical aspects of digital literacy. They highlighted how digital proficiency & digital literacy are shaping education, careers, and everyday opportunities & opening pathways to secure stable employment as also to run selfemployed initiatives such as  IT sector roles, digital marketing jobs, run e-commerce and online businesses, and access various government digital services.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Biswanath Sahoo, COO – Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha, said: “At Vedanta IOO, we believe education is the most powerful driver of social transformation. In today’s world, digital literacy is as fundamental as traditional literacy. By empowering young people with these skills, we are reaffirming our commitment to ‘giving back’ to society and to partner with communities in building a brighter, self-reliant future.”

Sharing her thoughts, Ms. Henamalini Mohanta, Principal of ITI Koida said: “Digital literacy is opening new horizons for our students. Today, our youth in Koida are eager to learn, adapt, and seize opportunities in the digital era. Programs like these, supported by Vedanta Iron Ore Odisha, complement our classroom teaching and inspire students to think bigger, aim higher, and prepare for modern careers. Their continued support for education in our region is truly strengthening our future.”

Vedanta IOO has been consistently working to promote education in the remote areas through initiatives such as remedial classes, provisioning of learning material,and running a dedicated school bus service thus helping address the issue of drop out from school.
