Vedanta Sesa Goa – IOK Contributes to a TBMuktBharat through the Provision of Nutritional Kits

Chitradurga, Karnataka: Vedanta Sesa Goa-IOK extended support as part of the Government of India’s ‘PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA)’ by taking part in the ‘PM Nikshay Mitra’ initiative at an event organised at the Taluk Health Office, Chitradurga.
Dr. B. V. Girish, Taluk Health Officer, Chitradurga, along with Mr Mugappa, Block Health Education Officer (BHEO), Chitradurga, Dr. Syed Bilal, Medical Officer, other government officials, Mr. Ravi Bisaguppi, Head CSR, Vedanta IOK Chitradurga, along with Vedanta officials, ASHA workers, and community members were present for the event. As part of the initiative, Vedanta IOK provided nutritional kits comprising pulses, grains, wheat rava, dry fruits & cooking oil to augment the diet of patients, in an effort to effectively combat TB.
According to the WHO’s Global Tuberculosis Report 2024, India accounted for 26% of TB cases in 2023, which is the largest number of TB cases globally. According to the India TB Report 2024 published by the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka accounted for approximately 8.04% of the total TB cases in India. The prevalence of TB in the country has necessitated the launch of the PMTBMBA, which envisages a significant role for the private sector in achieving India’s goals for the eradication of TB.
Expressing his thoughts on the support extended, Mr. Shrishaila Gouda, CEO, Vedanta IOK said, “We are delighted to play our part in community well-being through the PM Nikshay Mitra Scheme. Over the next six months, we will play our part in aiding the lives of TB-affected patients, through provision of essential nutritional kits, on a monthly basis. We, at Vedanta IOK, remain committed to supporting the communities in their efforts towards holistic wellbeing.”
Dr. B. V. Girish, Taluk Health Officer, Chitradurga & Chief Guest at the event said “Managing Tuberculosis requires, alongside medical treatment, nutritious food, which plays a vital role in recovery. I urge all beneficiaries to make the best use of the nutrition kits donated by Vedanta Sesa Goa – IOK.”
Vedanta Sesa Goa has previously also associated with the PM Nikshay Mitra Scheme in Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka as part of its Project ‘Aarogya’, which has benefitted over 82,000 individuals in FY ’24 & ’25 through various medical related initiatives.
