For over 25 years, the Sesa Football Academy has been a cradle of talent, nurturing young footballers from Goa’s rural heartlands. Established in 1999, as part of the Sanquelim Reclaimed Mine project, the Academy is one of the two flagship CSR projects and has been a forerunner in showcasing meaningful transformation for the youth of mining and rural belts in Goa.

Beyond nurturing sporting ambitions and honing footballing skills, SFA also focuses on instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, shaping individuals who not only excel in competitive sport but also embody leadership and play their part in society as well as Nation Building.Since 1999, over 230+ players have graduated from the Academy with 14 amongst them having represented India internationally.Overall, through its various initiatives over the years, SFA has helped power the aspirations of over 8500 youth across the state of Goa.

SFA has a well-structured footballing setup with both the men’s and women’s segments being nurtured with passion and drive. The SFA Senior Men’s Team has represented Goa at the I-League 3 and was runner up in the prestigious Goa Pro League in the 2024-25 season.

The women’s game received a major fillip, when in 2023 the SFA set up the Senior Women’s Team. Since then, exemplifying the rich traditions and expertise of the coaching staff, the women’s game has progressed on a well-defined developmental trajectory. Hearteningly, the SFA Senior Women’s Team were crowned ‘Champions’ at the Vedanta Women’s League, Goa’s premier women’s competition, in only their second season in the League. Furthermore, the women’s team has gone on to represent Goa at the Indian Women’s League (IWL) – 2 and IWL.

Through its efforts, the SFA continues to nurture Goan and Indian football, while proudly shaping the future of the youth through the medium of sports.
